Elizabeth Mahler

Dr. Elizabeth (Beth) Mahler is the Associate Chief Medical Officer, Community Hospitals, for Alameda Health System.

In this role, Dr. Mahler provides physician leadership for the acute and ambulatory services provided at the AHS Alameda and San Leandro Hospital campuses. Dr. Mahler partners with the Medical Executive Committee to enable the delivery of high quality, safe, equitable, and personal care to the communities served. Dr. Mahler also collaborates with operations and nursing leadership to advance access, care coordination and clinical integration across AHS to provide seamless, efficient and effective care delivery and improved patient-family experience.

Immediately prior to working at Alameda Health System Dr. Mahler worked at John Muir Health where she served as the Chief Clinical Officer, Value Based Care. There she oversaw the JMH Physician Network and associated quality, safety, care management and post-acute network programs. Previously, Dr. Mahler served over a decade at Sutter Health as the System VP, Clinical Integration, where she led the System Hospital Medicine Improvement Community, the Palliative and Advanced Illness Care Service Line, and Sutter’s Clinical Variation Reduction program. Dr. Mahler was also the Physician Executive sponsor of Sutter’s celebrated Management and Clinical Excellence Program (MCE).

Dr. Mahler completed her MD and Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at UC, San Francisco, and earned her BA in Communications at UC Berkeley.
